So here’s the latest: My 31 year old son is getting married in early November (first child to get married!). The Rolex is an awesome watch, but as awesome as an ALS or Patek with a timezone complication? Or a Moser with a bloody tourbillon? And again, if I pull the trigger on one, that's it boys. I’ve narrowed my search down to the PP 5270 and ALS Datograph. (Either will be purchased pre-owned) I’m leaning towards the 5270, even at the price premium, but thought I’d see if there was something I’m overlooking.

Go for the ALS Sax thin. It is truly a beautiful timepiece and it is NOT a dull watch. I have a rotation of Rolex SS and PM but i find myself choosing the Saxonia more frequently. Looks, size, quality, and you can't beat the price point. The Rolex probably had a screw down crown. ALS makes lovely watches and their movements are remarkable, but you will have to pay more attention to it over a typical "tool watch".
